Deneth Piumakshi, enters the world of fashion at Elegance 2010, held at Galadari Hotel
“DENETH” – which translates to ‘eyes of an artist’ in Sinhala is not merely a fashion designer, but a complete free spirit. Evidence of her affinity for fashion began in childhood, when she would collect the remnants of ‘cheeththa’ cloth that her mother would leave behind after she completed her rounds of sewing little dresses for her sisters and her.
Deneth has been working and travelling for the past six years as an artist, designer and backpacker. She loves trains. Being on a 48-hour train journey from Chennai to Delhi and being cut away from any kind of communication from the outer world is how she defines a holiday. Based in Kathmandu for the past five years, Deneth opines that for her, India is a love-hate relationship out of which she gained power and inspiration. Her two collections are results of her imagination, places she has lived, and the music and people that her heart has followed for the past seven years.
