Some delightful facts from Minister Jeevan Kumaranathunga's daughter's wedding reception.

Venue: Water's Edge Garden

Guests: 2000 pax - 20 people to a table

Special Table Design: All tables had a silver satin underlay and a pearl embedded lace table cloth made specially for the reception

Napkins: All 2000 napkins were embroidered with the bride & groom's initials & made specially for the reception

Napkin Rings:  Pearl embedded lace napkin rings made specially for the occasion

 Flowers By:  Shirohana

 A Tiger Lily is priced at Rs.175 - 250.00 at Shirohana's

A Chrysanthemum is priced at Rs.100.00 at Shirohana's

The Water's Edge entrance fountain rimmed with tiger lilies & chrysanthemums

All marquees covered in cloth with garlands of jasmines & lights

Each table had a garland of tiger lilies with very little foliage, so large & so thick that people found it difficult to place their plates on either side of the table.

Head Table: Elevated podium with the same flowers as the other tables but with the garlands of Lilies trailing onto the podium floor.

All marquees lit in blue & white tones.

There were also ball lights with flowers & other decor as seen in image

Food: A no expense spared buffet at around Rs.8,000.00  to15,000 thousand per person.

Invitation: A jewelry box sized affair in white satin with the pearl embedded lace lid, a ribbon & round diamante buckle to hold the thick silver board with the printing.

Each invitation cost around Rs.4 - 8000.00 & was hand delivered.

The Cake Box: White satin with a lid in the pear embedded lace material with a massive piece of cake.

Gift for the Ladies: A Japanese fan

The bride was dressed by Michel Wijaysooriya who flew to Bombay with the family to pick out the clothes & sarees.

And just in case you though our dear Minister did not spend enough:

There was a poruwa ceremony at Jeewan's house for close family & friends prior to the reception & there will be a home coming at the Hilton.

Wonder whether the Sri Lanka Inland Revenue Dept. will inquire into how the family came up with the necessary funds for this tasteful & simple reception, like they do to you & me, especially at a time when the government is asking us to economize for a better tomorrow.

Better for whom?

 Your Tax Rupees at work???????????
